The piece is entitled “The First Half Hour” .
It commemorates the opening minutes of the Battle of the Somme. My paternal grandfather, Private Fred Tregurtha (No. 28782) took part in this. He was one of the 11th Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, otherwise known as the ‘Accrington Pals’

Hosted in the Old Motor Vehicle Building, due to be destroyed the day after the show, this promises to be an unique event!

Following on from the success of the inaugural ‘Alignment Conference’ held last year, this year’s conference focusses on entrepeneurship and innovation within education and business for the creative industries. The ‘Insight Conference’ will be held at University Centre just before the official opening of the Art and Design Summer Show so you will receive an exclusive preview of the show before the doors open to the public at 6pm.
